Write to govern program
Make lasting changes to your organisation's senior management reports and/or board papers with a write to govern program.
A write to govern program aims to improve the quality of your board papers so directors can read their papers more easily and make decisions more confidently.
Core elements of a write to govern program
Initial briefing and audit of board papers
An initial briefing and audit of board papers sets the parameters for the program.
Taming templates
Many organisations have templates and guidelines, but often these need re-assessing and revising to ensure writers are reading the guidelines and using the template well.
Improving the review process
A two-hour seminar with the senior executive team on how to ‘add value’ to the review process and train their team to be better writers.
Training writers
Two half-day workshops with a maximum of 14 participants in each group. The first half-day workshop includes theory and activities, and in the second workshop, writers work on real examples to reinforce their skills.
Reviewing and assessing board papers
After the workshops, Mary Morel reviews a sample of your board papers and provides feedback.
Final report and debrief
At the end of the program, Mary provides a report and meets with your company secretary or representative to discuss the program.
Additional services
Mary Morel also offers the following services that you may wish to include in your program.
- Initial research – surveying and interviewing senior managers and directors for their views on board papers.
- Individual training – Mary Morel and her colleague, Bert Hingley, guarantee to transform an individual’s writing within a few sessions.
